Information

The Ebutsini Trail is a community-driven project located between the Swaziland border and Songimvelo Nature Reserve. A short 3 hours drive from Gauteng, this trail is aimed at the ever-increasing 4x4 market.

The Ebutsini Trail offers up to 100km of off-road driving, with a well marked 30km scenic route. The trail starts at the Ekulindeni Tourism Centre located 50km from Badplaas, and meanders through an area of undiscovered scenic beauty and clear mountain streams; a mountainous area of pristine beauty.

It takes 4-5 hours to complete, depending on time spent at the picnic and view points.

Along the way you can stop to interact with the local people in picturesque villages and kraals. The area is rich in history with interesting geological features. The trail is aimed at the 4x4 leisure market with an optional 4x4 obstacle if a real challenge is desired.

The obstacle is only for advance 4x4 drives with vehicles that are equipped with recovery points and equipment, or for groups with a qualified 4x4 guide. Vehicles will not be damaged or scratched on the normal route if care is taken.

ACCOMMODATION

For those overnighting (and it is recommended that you make a weekend of it) the 4x4 experience is supplemented by an evening in the Ekulindeni Tourism Centre in Swazi huts, luxuriously appointed with all modern facilities ensuring great comfort for guests. Evenings are spent around cosy fires with Swazi dancing and excellent traditional food.

Camping facilities, self catering units and rustic accommodation for the more adventurous, are available on request.
