| Media Launch | The official launch of the Mpumalanga Tourism Month programme will take place on the last week of August 2014 after the National launch on the 21st August 2014. MEC of DEDET will officially launch the Tourism Month. | Lilizela Awards | The awards will be South Africa’s premier travel and tourism awards, will recognise, celebrate and praise the excellent work of an industry that is created and that sustains tourist arrivals growth to South Africa. The awards will recognise tourism players and businesses that work passionately to deliver a world-class product and service, and whose delivery grows South Africa’s global destination competitiveness. | |
| Tourism safety awareness Campaigns | The tourism safety campaigns are critical intervention to reduce criminal activities targeted at Tourist while visiting the Province. Officials will be deployed at different tourist’s attractions areas to ensure that visitors are able to enjoy themselves in a safe and responsible manner. | Date: 15 September 2014

| Walk and Learn in the Wildside | The Walk on the Wild was introduced as part of the SANParks Week in 2008 and targets high school pupils specifically Grade 10 and 11 from neighbouring communities. The project exposes the learners to conservation and tourism related careers. Since 2008, the project focused on the Ehlanzeni Region however in 2010, Park Management decided to roll-out the project throughout the park in order to reach all the different schools that are found nearer the park in both Mpumalanga and Limpopo provinces. MTPA will Collaborate with SANParks and DoE for this event in creating awareness about careers in the tourism industry. | Date: 08-12 September 2014 Venue: Kruger National Park |
| Sho’t left Campaign (Via Mzansi) | This is domestic tourism campaign directed at growing the number of domestic travellers in South Africa was introduced. The campaign is called “NOTHING’S MORE FUN THAN A SHO’T LEFT”. This campaign emphasizes the fun of a domestic leisure getaway and encourages South Africans to develop a culture of domestic exploration. The Ambassador of Shot Left Campaign will be invited to a 3 days road show that will be aimed at encouraging communities to travel more domestically. | Date: 17-19 September 2014 Venue: Ehlanzeni |
| Tourism awareness day | Celebrating Tourism month and creating awareness on business opportunities that exist in the sector and how they can benefit Encourage locals to travel within the province. On this day MTPA will recognise and celebrate a sustainable community project that is government funded e.g. Zithabiseni resort or Coromandel Game Farm. The event will focus on creating awareness on tourism and community development. It will also serve as a platform to promote responsible Tourism. | Date: 20 September 2014 Venue: Zithabiseni Holiday Resort |
| National Heritage Day | The National Heritage is a day in which all are encouraged to celebrate their cultural traditions in the wider context of the great diversity of cultures, beliefs, and traditions that make up the nation of South Africa. | MTPA Excursion | In encouraging the culture of travelling domestically, MTPA staff will be afforded an opportunity to travel to one of the protected areas, this will be done in collaboration with the employee wellness section. The event will be used as a team building exercise to motive and increase staff morale within the organisation. This will be an annual activity that will rotate within the three MTPA regions.
