The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) is pleased with the successful arrest of suspects who are alleged to have hijacked our tourists by the South African Police Service.

These suspects were found with the belongings of our tourists such as laptops, iPad, cellphones and credit cards. The American tourists were travelling ten kilometres away from Kruger gate when they were hijacked by two males at gun point and these suspects were traveling with a dash blue light Golf.

The entity would like to applaud the sterling work by the South African Police Service and this shows that all the systems that have been put in place are working and very effective. It is evident that anyone who commits any crime especially to our tourists will be arrested.

The suspects appeared at Kanyamazane Court on the 12th September 2023 "We would like to appeal to our tourists to adhere to the safety tips issued to them especially to avoid traveling at night, avoid carrying large sum of cash and asking strangers for directions"- MTPA CEO Mduduzi Vilakazi.

The MTPA will continue to work with the South African Police Service and private sector to ensure that our tourists are safe when visiting our Province. Mpumalanga Province remains the preferred tourism destination and we encourage our tourists to continue to visit Mpumalanga and discover the hidden gems in our Province.
