The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) will once again implement the Parks Week initiative that will offer the public free access to selected nature reserves from the 09 to 13 September 2024. The Parks Week initiative is celebrated annually in September with the aim of encouraging locals to travel more and explore the various tourism attractions on offer.
“We want to encourage the public and school groups to take advantage of this opportunity to explore the diverse fauna and flora found in the province. Access to the twelve (12) selected nature reserves will be free. This initiative is strictly for day visitors only. Accommodation will be charged at normal rates”, said Mr. Justus Mohlala, Acting CEO of the MTPA.
The following nature reserves will take part in the Mpumalanga Parks Week initiative:
• Andover Nature Reserves
• Barberton Nature Reserves
• Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserves
• Kromdraai Camp
• Loskop Dam Nature Reserves
• Mahushe Shongwe Nature Reserves
• Manyeleti Nature Reserves
• Mkhombo Nature Reserve
• Nooitgedacht Dam Nature Reserves
• Ohrigstad Dam Nature Reserves
• Songimvelo Nature Reserves
• SS Skosana Nature Reserves
Visitors will be required to present their South African identity document or valid South African driver's license to gain access to our nature reserves.
