The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency recently announced that it would not be participating at Indaba this year.
Kholofelo Nkambule, Senior Manager: Corporate Communications MTPA, says the agency is faced with serious budgetary constraints, which has led to a preliminary decision not to participate. “We are aware that Indaba is a critical platform to showcase and promote the destination to the broader trade and, as a province, our absence will have a huge impact. We have, over the years, formed critical relations and partnerships with the trade, using Indaba as a platform, which we would still continue to maintain. We have assisted in facilitating linkages between the products and the trade and will continue to enhance those relations further and ensure continuity.”
Nkambule adds that the MTPA will continue to engage government to assist in resolving the current financial situation faced by the agency. “We trust that it will be resolved in due course and we will be able to implement our marketing programmes as planned.
