Nelspruit – Mpumalanga Economic Development, Environment and Tourism MEC, Mr Norman Mokoena has announced the filling of vacancies of six (6) additional Board Members of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (the MTPA) in accordance with sections 7(2) and 10(2) of the MTPA Act, 2005. This now brings the total number of Board members appointed to eleven (11), which is a requirement of the said Act. The filling of vacancies follows the resignation of the previous Chairperson, his deputy and other four (4) members from the Board of the agency late last year.
The appointed additional new Board Members are:
- Mr Jerry Ngomane (Chairperson)
- Ms Busisiwe Clara Ndlovu (Deputy Chairperson)
- Mr Zanele Zitha
- Mr Tlou Keetse
- Mr Harry Biggs
- Ms Carole Chiloane
The five (5) members who remained from the previous Board are:
- Ms Pauline Ramusi
- Ms Ponke Mtsweni
- Mr Fidel Mlombo
- Mr Elliott Ndala
- Mr Thomas Ntuli
The MTPA is a public entity reporting to the MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism, and is responsible for provincial tourism and bio-diversity conservation matters. The appointments would now enable the MTPA to run effectively.
Meanwhile MEC Mokoena met the full Board of the MTPA during their first meeting on Tuesday, 31 January 2012, to highlight his expectations from them.
