Vilakazi has served as a Chief Financial Officer for the MTPA since October 2020 and will serve in his new role as the Acting CEO for a period of six months.
“On behalf of the Board of the MTPA we are excited to appoint Mr Vilakazi to serve as the Acting CEO of the MTPA for a period of six months. We are confident that he will continue to ensure that there is stability within the entity and further take the entity to greater heights with the support of the Executive Management and the entire staff of the entity”, said Mr Victor Mashego, Chairperson of the MTPA Board.
Mr Vilakazi brings with him a wealth of experience through the number of years he served in the public sector. He will continue to ensure that he serves the people of Mpumalanga and strive to ensure that both the tourism and conservation sectors continue to work together to position Mpumalanga as a destination of choice.
“As the Board, our mandate to the Acting CEO is to ensure that he strives towards achieving a clean audit and further advance the transformation agenda with speed and agility”, added Mashego.
Mr Vilakazi is taking over from Mr Johannes Nobunga who served the entity with diligence for a period of five years until his term came to an end March 2022.
