Besides plants that have outlived dinosaurs, nearly 250 species of birds, and 75 species of reptiles, the botanical gardens Sappi Aerial Boardwalk, offers you the opportunity to take the hand of your loved one this Valentine’s Day and step into a whole new world. When you’re finished exploring (if you get there) your opportunity awaits to set out a romantic picnic on the lush green lawns, and laze about for the remainder of the day. If it’s romance you’re looking for, and you have a bit of an adventurous spirit to go, then Blyde River Canyon is a fantastic option for a romantic couples day out this Valentine’s Day. ‘Blyde’ means ‘happy’ or ‘glad’ in Dutch, and we couldn’t think of a better way to describe what you’ll feel after taking the time to visit this historical space.
Take your loved one for a day of natural phenomena - Blyde River Canyon is the largest green canyon in the world! Stretching over 26 kilometers and over 800m deep. It’s a site to see, with breathtaking views such as God’s Window, Kadishi Tufa Waterfalls, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, and SO much more. Don’t forget to snap a photo - you’ll want to pop this memory in a photo album.
