Barberton Nature Reserve
Not all those looking for adventure this springtime in Mpumalanga are looking to get an adrenaline hit! Take time out and take it easy at Barberton Nature Reserve. Offering a diverse array of animal and plant life, Barberton Nature Reserve is situated just 15km’s outside of Nelspruit, and 30 km's outside of Barberton. You’ll be treated to views of the Noord Kaap River, as well as the unique Sea Dam whilst on self-guided game drives, with idyllic picnic stops awaiting you.
Long Tom Toboggan
The rush of the wind in your hair, as you speed down Misty Mountain - the Long Tom Toboggan is sure to have you screaming with laughter (or fear!). This ‘alpine coaster’, as it’s called, takes you on a mind bending tour of Misty Mountain, as you tuck away in your Toboggan and rush down the monorail track. Reaching speeds of about 45 km/h, the Long Tom Toboggan is not for the faint hearted, but is sure to give you an adrenaline rush that you’ve been searching for! SS Skosana Nature Reserve
Springtime in Mpumalanga is the perfect time to be exploring nature reserves, and the SS Skosana Nature Reserve has a myriad of activities, sights and sounds for you to enjoy. Red granite outcrops are awaiting you in this exclusive 1800 hectare natural landscape. Expect to see a variety of wildlife including Zebra and Kudu, Tsessebe and untamed birdlife. Added to this, the hiking trails at SS Skosana Nature Reserve are reserved for both the long-term hikers and short bushwalk fans. Boasting a 17 km Tjhetjhisa hiking trail that begins in the Northern part of the reserve, you’ll be spoiled with sights of fauna and flora that will be etched into your memory for a lifetime.
