Samora Machel Museum
Place your thinking caps on as you take a tour of the Samora Machel Museum. Rich in history and a national heritage site, it’s one that should be on your bucket list as you tour not only Mpumalanga, but South Africa in general. Lowveld Botanical Gardens
This is one that we would place very high on our bucket list of winter holiday destinations. Set within the lowveld, along the banks of the Crocodile River, these Botanical Gardens offer visitors a myriad of beauty. Explore an enchanting rain forest with a suspension bridge, cascading waterfalls, and not one but two rivers. Sudwala Caves
Did you know that these caves are some of the oldest in the world? If you’re taking a trip this winter to the beautiful Mpumalanga region, be sure to make this one of your stops on the way (or during!). Both children and adults alike will be astounded at what you see inside these fascinating caves. Barberton Makhonjwa Mountain World Heritage Site
This is one of Mpumalanga’s first heritage sites, and it is unique in many ways. It holds some of the oldest and best preserved volcanic and sedimentary rocks on earth! Due to this it’s been a source of scientific information of the earth’s formation for many years.
