INSPECTIONS AND COMPLIANCE MONITORING

The Inspections and Compliance Monitoring unit is responsible to monitor compliance with and enforce the Mpumalanga Nature Conservation Act (Act 10 of 1998), conservation policies and the regulations framed there under. They are entrusted to protect the fauna and flora within the province and their mandate is not restricted to the Protected Areas/Reserves, but also include private game farms, cities, towns and rural areas. Attend to permit applications, conduct inspections (i.e. exemptions, keeping of birds, reptiles, cycads, nurseries ext.) and deal with problem animals (snakes, monkeys, porcupine’s ext.) in the communities.
