Information
A relatively small, 2536 hectare reserve, is situated in magnificent mountain scenery against the Drakensberg escarpment, on the R533, west of the historic mining village of Pilgrim Rest The reserve conserves a mountain environment in transition zone between the highlands and the lowveld around the Ohrigstad Dam. The reserve, being close to a major tourist route, offers an excellent opportunity for visitors to stop over and enjoy the facilities of the reserve. This is primarily an angling, birding and hiking destination with a growing number of game species include carp, Yellowfish and bream. The reserve is home to over 200 species of birds including the rare crowned eagle.
