The Mpumalanga Tourism & Parks Agency together with Nkangala District Municipality today hosted the Tourism Digital Transformation Worskhop aimed at affording the trade an opportunity to leverage on better ways to do business through the use of technology. 

The theme for this year’s Tourism Month “Tourism and the digital transformation” will assist in indicating opportunities provided to tourism, by technological advances including big data and digital platforms, on the map of sustainable development. The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) sees digital advances and innovation as part of the solution to the challenge of marrying continued growth with a more sustainable and responsible tourism sector.

Today’s workshop saw a group of panel members from various fields sharing their experiences on how the trade can use this platform to change their way of doing business to see better results. The platforms that are there to assist in building and improving the image of ones business. Tourism businesses encouraged to find ways to integrate old and new marketing platforms. 

The panel members included representatives from National Department of Tourism; Tourism Information office in Dullstroom; Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business & Tourism; South African Tourism and Tsogo Sun Group.
