The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) yesterday collaborated with Harmocept Events, the organizers of the annual Mbombela Jazz Festival to donate 150 pairs of school shoes to various learners in Nkomazi.
This initiative follows a call made at the annual Charity Golf Day hosted in September 2018 whereby golfers and sponsors were encouraged to donate school shoes as a way of giving back to our local communities.
“A total of 150 pairs of school shoes were collected from the Charity Golf Day and were distributed to the two schools that were identified by the provincial Department of Education. The two schools in Tonga, Nkomazi (i.e. Mbombo Combined School and Zibokwane Primary School) each received 75 pairs of school shoes”, said Mr BJ Nobunga, CEO of MTPA.
“The shoes were given to those learners that are in desperate need, as identified by the school management. It is an honor for us as MTPA to be part of this initiative with Harmocept Events. We are excited to have brought a smile to the children in that area”, added Nobunga.
We wish to thank and congratulate the Mbombela Jazz Festival organizers for starting such a wonderful initiative.
We look forward to conducting more of these initiatives this year where various programmes will be identified aimed at giving back to our communities.
