The Mpumalanga tourism attractions and nature reserves will continue to open during the adjusted Level 3 Lockdown with strict compliance to the COVID-19 health and safety protocols as well as the limited number of visitors allowed at any given time. This follows the announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa to move the country to Level 3 effective today.
“We will continue to enforce these adjusted compliance measures especially during this festive season in the new Level 3 Lockdown when we are experiencing high volumes of visitors to all the tourism attractions in the province. All the province’s nature reserves, both private and public including all other tourism products permitted by the Disaster Management Regulations will continue to open for the public”, said Mr. Johannes Nobunga, CEO of MTPA.
“We would like to remind our visitors that it is compulsory for everyone to wear their face masks at all times, comply with social distancing and continue to sanitize their hands regularly. Consumption of alcohol is not allowed at any of our tourism attractions. We would further like to emphasize that failure to comply with the set protocols will result in denial of access to any of the tourism attractions in the province. All sites will be monitored on a regular basis to ensure that the public is kept safe at all times. We appeal to our visitors to cooperate with us”, added Nobunga.
We would like to encourage those intending to visit our nature reserves for hiking and accommodation to make the necessary bookings prior through our central reservations office on email@example.com and visit our website, www.mpumalanga.com for a list of our nature reserves situated at various parts of the province.
For all other reservations at other tourism products, the different websites of Local Tourism Organisations (LTOs) and Regional Tourism Organisations (RTOs) can be visited. Visitors are also encouraged to contact the various attractions when visiting them to confirm the operating times during this period.
The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency will continue to work with the Regional Tourism Organisations to encourage tourism businesses to comply with the regulations and the set protocols in order to ensure the safety of our guests and staff at all times.
