Following the issuing of the Amended Generic Codes of Good Practice for B-BBEE by the Minister of the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) on the 11th October 2013, all Sector Charter Councils are required to align their sector-specific Codes to the dtiâs new B-BBEE Generic Codes of Good Practice. A transitional period of eighteen months, from 11th October 2013 to 30th April 2015, has been allocated for this process. The amended generic codes were issued under section 9 (1) of the B-BBEE Act No. 53 of 2003.
The Tourism B-BBEE Charter Council has initiated the process of developing a Draft Tourism B-BBEE Codes, and the Minister has recommended the commencement of consultation with tourism stakeholders in this regard.
