The Board of Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Abe Sibiya as the Head of Biodiversity Conservation with effect from 1 March 2015. This follows a thorough and extensive search process over recent months.
Mr Abe Sibiya has been appointed on a five year contract with the MTPA. Prior to his appointment he was working at the South African National Parks (SANParks) as the Managing Executive for Kruger National Park, a position he held from 2009 – 2014. He also acted as the CEO of SANParks during his tenure. He has Honours in Bachelor of Science from the University of Pretoria.
"I am delighted that Mr Abe Sibiya has joined the MTPA. His vast experience of management in the wider conservation and tourism industries will be invaluable to the MTPA and the province at large. It will further go a long way in strengthening the Mpumalanga brand and ensuring that Mpumalanga reclaims its position globally”, said Mr Sam Maluleka, Acting Chief Executive Officer of MTPA.
“Mr Sibiya is no stranger to MTPA. He previously worked as the General Manager Tourism Development at MTPA and also acted in numerous senior executive management positions, added Mr Maluleka.
“We wish Mr Sibiya well in his new appointment and we are confident that during his tenure he will take MTPA forward” concluded Maluleka.
