MPUMALANGA TOURISM & PARKS AGENCY APPOINTS NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

The Board of Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Boy Johannes Nobunga as the new Chief Executive Officer of Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency. He will assume his responsibilities with effect from 3 April 2017 on a five-year contract.

Nobunga formerly served as a Member of Parliament from 1994 – 2009. In his final term, he served as the Deputy Speaker of the Mpumalanga Legislature. He has an Honours Degree in Bachelor of Commerce from the University of the Western Cape. His extensive leadership experience in government operations as well as governance processes will go a long way in positioning the Agency.

"I am delighted to welcome Mr. Boy Nobunga to MTPA. He brings in a wealth of experience and strategic management capabilities. His experience in leadership roles within government and other sectors will be invaluable as we strive to position Mpumalanga province as one of the key tourism destinations in South Africa”, said Mr. Thulani Nzima, Chairperson of MTPA Board.

 “We trust that this appointment will assist in bringing stability to the Agency and further strive to fulfill the Agency’s mandate to manage conservation and promote Mpumalanga as a preferred tourist destination”, added Nzima.

 “As the Board, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr Abe Sibiya, Head of Biodiversity Conservation at MTPA, who acted as Chief Executive during the process leading to the appointment of Mr. Nobunga. During his tenure, Mr. Sibiya did a sterling job with utmost professionalism and worked tirelessly to increase the credibility and visibility of the MTPA”, commented Nzima.

 The MTPA Board together with its Executive Management and staff would like to formally welcome Mr. Boy Nobunga. We look forward to a good working relationship that will lead MTPA to greater heights.
