Dullstroom Arts Festival

When: Friday, 16 December 2011 to Sunday, 18 December 2011
Where: Dullstroom
Categories: Annual Festivals / Arts & Culture

Within three hours of Jo'burg, tucked in among the Steenkampsberg, is a little village best known for its pristine pools well stocked with large trout. It is little known that Dullstroom is also the home of some of South Africa’s greatest cultural talent. Whether it be artisans who produce magnificent works of art in metal or wood, or talented musicians who seek inspiration from the surrounding rolling grasslands, Dullstroom is a plethora of creativity. The local residents have joined forces to provide a platform to showcase this talent. From December 16 to 18, Dullstroom will come alive as locals show visitors that there is more to Dullstroom than meets the fly.

The Dullstroom Festival of Art & Culture is a means of introducing visitors to the many varied aspects of creativity within Dullstroom and the surrounding areas. The festival will create a platform to showcase local talent and to create an awareness of the natural heritage of the area.

During the 3 days of the festival, painting, mosaicing, sculpture, pottery, glasswork, beadwork, art classes, music, makeup classes and the culinary arts will all be on display throughout the village. Meet and interact with the artists, enjoy fine music, fine wine and fine cuisine.

The festival will feature 'live' artists who will be creating and interacting with visitors at the different centres throughout the village. In the evenings restaurant patrons will be entertained by a diverse selection of musical artists. Each of the many restaurants in the village will offer extraordinary culinary delights which will be complimented by wine tasting’s from various estates
