Bushwhacked Backpackers
0 star rating
Bushwhacked is a self-catering house in Barberton, focused on accommodating wildlife orientated people, especially guides and lodge staff as a place to recuperate on their time off. Bushwhacked is situated on the edge of town backing onto an uninhabited valley, with spectacular views.

Accommodation is offered in basic, clean and comfortable double rooms, all of which have access to a communal kitchen, lounge and dining area. The rooms each have a name, so once you know Bushwhacked you can request the room that you prefer. Linen and bath towels are provided.

The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, and the lounge area features a TV and a DVD player. There is also a braai area with amazing views over the valley. Your hosts live on the property, in ‘The Woodshed’ in the back garden. There are two mountain bikes available for guests to use, as well as an air-rifle so guides can practise on the homemade range.

Bushwhacked is situated just outside the old gold rush town of Barberton which has a rich history, a lot of which can still be seen and explored. The house is set in the foothills of the Makonjwa Mountains just 40 minutes from Nelspruit. This is a welcoming, comfortable and affordable place for likeminded people to relax on their time off, or use as a stopover on your way to a destination.

If you walk about the back door of Bushwacked and up the mountain you’ll have a wooded valley all to yourself where you can spot a variety of animal species and bird life. There is also a well-known birding area, a pocket of indigenous forest, known as 'Pedlars bush', close by.
