THE MPUMALANGA FESTIVE CAMPAIGN KICKS OFF

With the Festive Season cogs set in motion, the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) is thrilled to have initiated the MTPA 2018 Festive Season Campaign taking place across the province of Mpumalanga. The 1st of November saw the commencement of the Mpumalanga Festive Campaign encouraging domestic travel to and throughout the province. Considered to be one of the busiest travel seasons of the year, the end of year Festive campaign aims to showcase both the affordability and accessibility of travelling to the province. Targeting domestic tourists, the province hopes to reach a growing number of prospective travellers by way of various e-marketing and media platforms with the aims of broadening the scope and reach of current marketing efforts.

 

During the launch of the Mpumalanga Festive Campaign Executive Manager of Tourism at the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency, Mr Xolani Mthethwa explained how the agency plans on utilizing various social media platforms as well as radio and print media to encourage the domestic tourism market to visit Mpumalanga during the coming Festive Season. Mthethwa went on to add that a number of affordable packages have been placed on offer and made available on the MTPA website, http://www.mpumalanga.com which travellers are encouraged to explore ahead of booking their year-end vacation.

 

Kicking the Festive campaign off with the inaugural Ray Phiri Memorial Lecture saw this first of its kind event take place on the 31st of October at the Emnotweni Arena in Nelspruit. The Memorial lecture was attended by guest speakers including the likes of Mr Charles Mabaso, Acting Deputy Director General from the National Department of Arts and Culture and Professor Rachmond Harward from the University of Mpumalanga who set the tone of celebration and reflection in wrapping up the year.

 

Over and above the launch of the 2018 Mpumalanga Festive Season Campaign, the MTPA have plans in place for other initiatives aimed at carrying the momentum in encouraging travel to the province. These initiatives include mall activations to promote provincial nature reserves as well as other events taking place throughout the province including ;

  • New Year’s Eve (NYE) media launch and tour of the panorama route from 2 – 3 November;
  • The Metro FM Heatwave at Ebukhosini Resort featuring Eyadini Lounge on 3 November;
  • International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Congress in Dubai, UAE from 11 – 14 November;
  • SA Tourism UK School in 5 cities in the UK from 12 – 16 November;
  • Launch of the Marula Route in Bushbuckridge on 22 November;
  • Fikani Trade Show in Maputo, Mozambique from 22 -25 November;
  • Incentive Business Travel and Meetings (IBTM) in Barcelona Spain from 27 -29 November; and
  • Nabalabantfu Picnic Festival in Nkomazi on 15 December.

 

Excited to be implementing a variety of initiatives in bolstering travel and tourism to "the place where the sun rises" the MTPA encourages both domestic and international visitors to include a trip to the Province of Mpumalanga to their year-end itinerary.
