In the last 10 years Nelspruit has really evolved into a shopping mecca, with new malls, car salesrooms and superstores popping up around every corner.

While Riverside and Ilanga Malls will always be the big draw cards with their combination of designer and well-known chain stores offering everything from high-end fashion to essential household items. It is the small boutique shopping experiences which really set Nelspruit apart.

Sonpark is a perfect example of this. Here it is as much about the ambience as it is about the shopping, a sentiment echoed in their tagline ‘where we meet’, because Sonpark seems to draw people together for an experience greater than just shopping.

Although shopping at Sonpark is a pleasure with every day conveniences like the Post Office, Spar and filling station rubbing shoulders with small designer boutiques packed full of locally made artisan products. Whether it is fresh fish, fair trade children’s toys or custom made jewellery. Sonpark can provide for all your needs. Yet there is more on offer than a shopping experience. It is a sanctuary for those wishing to revitalise their look. With a ladies only gym, wide selection of hair salons, beauticians and more exotic treatments like a Moroccan barber and Chinese massage parlour. The newest addition to the Sonpark service is the medical centre. With a broad mix of doctors, dentists and optometrists working alongside an urgent care centre, kidney dialysis unit and pharmacy.

Perhaps Sonparks biggest draw card is the food that can be found here. Quirky cafes with friendly vibes are perfectly placed between nine fabulous restaurants serving food from around the globe. So whether it is Chinese, Greek, Italian, Indian, Portuguese, South African or French food that gets your taste buds tingling, Sonpark is the place to go.

However, the magic ingredient and central to the Sonpark Centre is the private, tree lined, boulevard that elevates it to another level and provides the ‘destination’ shopping sensation. As during the day it gives the feel of walking through the quaint artsy towns found in the Western Cape, while at night it is transformed into a magical wonderland of flashing fairy lights and an electric vibe.

No wonder Sonpark is fast being considered the alternative shopping destination for those looking for more than just a mall. With the Sonpark Centre about to celebrate its 20th birthday it’s clear this characterful precinct has found a great recipe for success. So come and share in the experience.
